The LSU Energy Institute has named Dr. Brian Snyder as Director of Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D), further strengthening the Institute’s growing leadership team focused on expanding LSU’s energy research capabilities and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The LSU Energy Institute has named Dr. Brian Snyder as Director of Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D), further strengthening the Institute’s growing leadership team focused on expanding LSU’s energy research capabilities and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Snyder joins the LSU Energy Institute from LSU’s Department of Environmental Sciences, where he served as Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Programs in the College of the Coast &Environment. He will continue to serve in his faculty role within the Department of Environmental Sciences while transitioning from his leadership role in undergraduate programs. His research has focused on the intersection of energy systems, carbon management, and environmental resilience, including work related to carbon capture and storage and renewable energy systems.

In his new role, Dr. Snyder will lead the Institute’s Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D) core area, one of several core focus areas within the LSU Energy Institute that also include Policy,Innovation, Information & Data, Education & Outreach, the Louisiana Geological Survey, and Energy Law. He will assist with the development of large multidisciplinary research initiatives and proposals, while also helping ensure academic rigor and strong faculty engagement across Energy Innovation-funded projects.

The LSU Energy Institute brings together expertise from across the university system to support energy research, technology advancement, workforce development, and policy engagement. Through partnerships with industry leaders, public agencies, and academic institutions, the Institute works to position LSU at the forefront of energy research and expertise.
