
Mustuque Munim is an Energy Research Fellow at the LSU Energy Institute, where he conducts applied research at the intersection of hydrogeology, subsurface systems, and energy–environment interactions. His work focuses on groundwater systems, aquifer characterization, and subsurface processes that are critical to water resource management and energy-related environmental challenges in Louisiana.
He brings experience in geospatial analysis, subsurface modeling, and organic geochemistry, with hands-on expertise in laboratory techniques and field-based data collection. His technical toolkit includes ArcGIS, Python, R, and MODFLOW, enabling integrated, data-driven approaches to complex geological problems. He holds two master’s degrees with a focus on hydrology, sedimentary geology, basin analysis, and biogeochemistry. His work includes research on leaf wax–derived lipid biomarkers using isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) and gas chromatography (GC), bridging subsurface processes with geochemical analysis.
