Interactive Tools for Louisiana's Energy Data

The LSU Center for Energy Studies has developed a suite of interactive web applications and comprehensive databases to serve as Louisiana's central repository for energy-related data. These digital tools provide accessible, up-to-date information supporting informed decision-making across Louisiana's energy sector.

Legislative Mandate

Louisiana Revised Statute 36:358, as amended by Act 727 of the 2024 Regular Legislative Session, directs the Louisiana Office of Energy to "work in cooperation with the Center for Energy Studies to create and carry out a central, comprehensive, and unified energy data and information program which will collect, evaluate, assemble, analyze, and disseminate data and information which is relevant to energy resource reserves, energy production, demand, and technology, and related economic and statistical information, or which is relevant to the adequacy of energy resources to meet demands in the near and longer term future of the state."

Comprehensive visualization of energy infrastructure along with other modules related to the energy sector in Louisiana. This application includes capital investment & job data, emissions and property tax data from major energy producing and consuming facilities in the state.

The Louisiana Economic Impact Model estimates direct, indirect, and induced economic effects on employment, income, and output at the parish and state level. Built on RIMS II multipliers, LEIM provides detailed tax revenue estimates for economic developers and policymakers analyzing impacts across Louisiana.
OSR Tracker Orphan and Idle Wells database
Oilfield Site Restoration Tracker
This tracker provides the current status of oilfield site restoration activity of orphan wells in the state (associated with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021). This tool also provides timely updates on methane leak measurements and well plugging activity.
