Interactive Tools for Louisiana's Energy Data

The LSU Center for Energy Studies has developed a suite of interactive web applications and comprehensive databases to serve as Louisiana's central repository for energy-related data. These digital tools provide accessible, up-to-date information supporting informed decision-making across Louisiana's energy sector.

Legislative Mandate

Louisiana Revised Statute 36:358, as amended by Act 727 of the 2024 Regular Legislative Session, directs the Louisiana Office of Energy to "work in cooperation with the Center for Energy Studies to create and carry out a central, comprehensive, and unified energy data and information program which will collect, evaluate, assemble, analyze, and disseminate data and information which is relevant to energy resource reserves, energy production, demand, and technology, and related economic and statistical information, or which is relevant to the adequacy of energy resources to meet demands in the near and longer term future of the state."

Interactive access to Louisiana's energy and economic datasets at monthly and annual intervals, covering topics such as oil and gas production, energy prices, revenue, employment statistics, exports, etc. for understanding Louisiana's energy landscape.

Louisiana Energy Infrastructure Database and resource management tools

Louisiana Infrastructure Dashboard

Comprehensive visualization of energy infrastructure along with other modules related to the energy sector in Louisiana. This application includes capital investment & job data, emissions and property tax data from major energy producing and consuming facilities in the state.

Louisiana Energy News

Interactive application for exploring chronological events related to Louisiana's energy industry and searchable article repository for major energy industry, policy and legislative news curated from a variety of news outlets, industry reports, other public documents, etc.

Louisiana Air Quality Dashboard

Interactive monitoring tool tracking Ozone, PM_2.5, PM₁₀, NO_x, SO₂, CO, and Lead across Louisiana. Includes data visualization, trend analysis, NAAQS design value calculations, current and historical AQI trends, and data explorer with multiple visualization options.

Louisiana Economic Impact Model

The Louisiana Economic Impact Model estimates direct, indirect, and induced economic effects on employment, income, and output at the parish and state level. Built on RIMS II multipliers, LEIM provides detailed tax revenue estimates for economic developers and policymakers analyzing impacts across Louisiana.

OSR Tracker Orphan and Idle Wells database

Oilfield Site Restoration Tracker

This tracker provides the current status of oilfield site restoration activity of orphan wells in the state (associated with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021). This tool also provides timely updates on methane leak measurements and well plugging activity.
